this has not been confirmed by any scientific or pseudo scientific research but: when the subject comes up i tell people that i'm the only person who went to woodstock and had neither sex nor drugs, AND didn't even like rock and roll! yes of course joints went by but i didn't inhale. the reason? frequently when risa and i went into nyc people would comment, "you're not too stoned..."
ReplyDeletewe weren't! we were just acting silly! so, i reasoned that i was on some sort of a natural high, and that if used anything, the natural high would go away; or, that as long as i was naturally high, i might as well GO WITH IT. i figured it might not last FOREVER--the natural high that is--and that when it wore off i might want to try something. pretty smart on my part, eh? and as for the sex--well so many of us were young and naive--and as for the rock& roll: fyi the first night was all folkie! joan baez etc. and that was my thing! one of my heroes was phil ochs (OBM) and i spent one night sitting on a car in the lost people area, next to a guy with a che hat, and the guy was also a p.o. fan and knew all the words to the songs...how high is that for a 2 months past graduation girl?
