  1. Take my word for it, Becca - you were a lot better off just sitting there than going where the catholic kids went. I'm what they call a recovering catholic. I had seven years in catholic schools before coming to EJHS. The worst of it was the 1.5 years at IHM after we moved to Eastchester. We had early dismissal on Wednesdays so the catholic kids in public schools could be bused there for their weekly indoctrination. But there was no rest for us even then. The nuns made sure we knew that God was liable to hurl lightning bolts at us at any moment. The concept of Original Sin is really handy if you're into instilling guilt in people. It pretty much says that you're born guilty. I was never the defiant type, but finally I told my parents that I would rather run away from home than spend another day at IHM.

As I recall, on Wednesday afternoons at EHS, we just had a long study hall.
